Adventure Magazine August 1943 Viking Cover — Restored Vintage Pulp Print

Before paperbacks, television, and streaming, pulp magazines delivered fast-moving stories through loud covers, dramatic titles, and action-heavy illustration. Printed on inexpensive wood-pulp paper, they were built to grab attention fast.

This restored print is based on the August 1943 issue of Adventure Magazine, Vol. 109 No. 4. The issue was published by Popular Publications, edited by Kenneth S. White, and listed by the Internet Archive as a 25-cent, 162-page pulp with cover art by Maurice Bower.

The cover highlights “The Fleet in the Forest,” a serial by Carl D. Lane, and surrounds it with pure pulp spectacle: Viking fighters, horned helmets, a lifted sword, a heavy shield, and the striped sail of a longship behind them.
