Three Sinners — Pola Negri Restored Vintage Lantern Slide Print
Pola Negri brings her commanding silent-screen presence to this promotional lantern slide for the 1928 Paramount drama Three Sinners.
Directed by Rowland V. Lee, Three Sinners stars Negri as Baroness Gerda Wallentin, with Warner Baxter and Paul Lukas in prominent supporting roles. The film was produced by Paramount Famous Lasky and adapted from the 1927 German play Das zweite Leben—The Second Life—by Rudolf Bernauer and Rudolf Österreicher.
Gerda realizes that her husband no longer loves her and leaves Germany for Vienna. After stepping away from her train, she learns that it has crashed and that everyone aboard is believed dead. Rather than reveal that she survived, Gerda allows her husband to believe she is gone and begins a second life as the hostess of a fashionable Viennese gambling house. Their later reunion forces her to confront the difference between recognition, desire and genuine love.
This reproduction is prepared from a restored, high-resolution scan of an original theatrical advertising lantern slide.
