Published during the golden age of pulp magazines, Adventure brought readers stories of exploration, conflict, survival and historical action. This issue featured Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson's "Rider of the Golden Mare," along with Henry Herbert Knibbs' "The High Trails" and additional adventure fiction.

Charles De Feo's cover illustration places the viewer directly in the charge: a determined rider leans forward on a powerful chestnut horse, reins drawn tight and saber lifted overhead, while mounted figures advance across the distant landscape. The oversized yellow Adventure masthead, cool blue background and intense orange-red horse give the composition the movement and immediacy associated with classic 1930s pulp illustration.
